Calistoga Ranch Wedding from Fleurs de France + Suzy Berberian Weddings

March 25, 2013

You see a lot o’lot of blush and pink and all white weddings on Style Me Pretty. We do love our soft muted colors around here. But when a wedding full of brilliant reds hits our boxes, some of us – do a little happy dance! Big, bold and strong. Pure all out passion. A color that just makes you want to reach out and touch it. Jessica at Fleurs de France and Suzy at Suzy Berberian Weddings and Events plus this fun-loving D.C. couple are responsible for the smile on our faces today. And if you’re like us, and you want to learn a little bit more about the inspiration for this celebration, you’ll read on… then jump right into the beautiful gallery of images from Ken Viale. Oh – and if you’re planning on red for your wedding, we’d love to hear from you!

From Suzy of Suzy Berberian Weddings & Events… This is the kind of wedding where the beautiful pictures tell more than I ever could. Brenda and Smith were the most fun, most creative and most relaxed couple I’ve had the opportunity to work with in a long time! I loved their contemporary edge (Smith wanted it to reflect the architecture and design of their home) and strong use of color and shape in the design. Living in the Washington D.C. area they only visited a couple of times for planning meetings, but they had complete faith in their team to make their vision a reality. The couple requested simple but striking floral, and Fleurs de France answered with a modern palette of deep red with slate gray and black accents. Calistoga Ranch in Napa Valley was the perfect venue, giving an exclusive, romantic and contemporary backdrop to this stunning wedding!

Sonoma County Wedding from Jessamyn Harris Photography + Fleurs de France

January 15, 2013

Every once in a while, I come across a wedding that just speaks to me with it’s sweetness. Usually, it’s something like this soiree… covered from head to toe in love. From the lovely (and plentiful) DIY projects, to the romantic ceremony in the California vineyard, every moment captured by Jessamyn Harris Photography was whispering my name. Fleurs de France lent their green thumbs for a floral design to match the entire sweet day – which, as it happens, is all right here!

Our inspiration was “French Country and Champagne.”  We wanted a wine country, champagne, lavender, casual but classy vibe. Lots of pastel and natural colors. The bridesmaids got to pick their own dress in the color scheme of “champagne” which varied from light pinks, to off whites, to yellows. I really love how it turned out because each maid really got to show off her own style. Even our signature cocktail was a champagne cocktail called “The French 75″ which is my favorite drink.

We did a TON of DIY projects. All the vases were champagne bottles (we were collecting for over a year, we drank them all ourselves). After trying many methods, we went to a local stained glass shop and bought the owners bottle cutter from the 1970s. It worked like a charm and Brian hand cut and sanded all 30 of the champagne bottle vases that our florist used.

The escort cards were wine corks we had been saving, all cut them all ourselves. We did the menus, programs and escort cards. We used champagne corks for the table number sign holders.

We spray painted the frames from Aaron Brothers with chalkboard paint for signs.

My maid of honor and I made 85 ribbon wands (which took hours and hours). The copper can they were in was a trash can I found on the sidewalk by our house in San Francisco. I took it, spayed it with copper spay and voila. We made all the tissue pom poms for the chairs and trees. We made the Mix CDs and the kraft paper envelopes (for favors).

My friend Tania Cordova Shaw did the invitation design, and they were printed from Paperwhite Printers in Petaluma.

My sister in law Kathleen Lilly did the save the date postcard design (printed from Greenerprinter.com) and the art for the chalkboard frames.

I would advise people to ask for help, have a good team of friends and family to help you out in the days before, during and after the wedding. Find a venue that is hands on, Dan O’Connell from Vine Hill House was pretty great.

Vintage Rustic Pink & Green Wedding

December 8, 2012

For those of you who do not know me yet…Very simply… I love weddings, events, and parties! I feel fortunate & extremely privileged to do what I love, create art and beauty with flowers, and being part of designing a once in a lifetime day. I am constantly searching for new textures, containers, color combinations, new elements, fabrics, lace and embellishments to enhance to our work. I personally hand pick every bloom, always looking for the extraordinary, the perfect elements to add.

I love the variety and uniqueness of each event. Clients who come armed with an array of new ideas, some with out of the box concepts, creating inspiration and giving us creative latitude. It offers the chance for me to reinvent my creative self daily.

We also specialize in Destination Weddings in the Northern California Wine Country, working with couples worldwide. We work closely with each of the sites and all your other vendors, ensuring your day is flawlessly executed, seamless and perfect, even better than you imagined.

When I have a beautiful wedding, like the one that we are featuring today, it’s so incredibly hard for me to edit down the images that I show. I want to make absolute sure that you guys get to see all of the perfect details, all of the love and gorgeousness that went into the affair.

The balance of elegance and a chic, modern style is just so beautiful. There are different areas that I really appreciate…from the simple, pure beauty of the ceremony to the chic, modern lounge styled cocktail hour to the really elegant, but unfussy dinner. Each portion of the night has a very specific feel, appropriate without being contrived. Love.

The absolutely beautiful florals were crafted by the oh-so-talented Jessica Switala of Fleurs de France in Sonoma. Eye candy beyond belief.

One last look to come!!

Organic Sonoma Wedding by Fleurs de France

October 5, 2012

We’ve got just the wedding to kick start your day after a long, sun-filled, BBQ eating, beach lounging weekend. This Sonoma beauty captured by Travis Hoehne Photography is just bursting from the seams with the most gorgeous floral displays from none other than our friends at Fleurs de France. I’m loving the al fresco dining tables with the clever and cute table markers. And is that a moss table runner I spy with my little eye? Love it! For even more details, click here.

From Fleurs de France: Rebecca and Scott, both map designers from Washington DC, are into reclaimed materials, because of the stories that they tell. Rebecca is a huge fan of the Anthropologie stores because they use unusual materials that create a look of unrefined elegance and wanted to translate this to their wedding. They brought in various flavors and essences, creating a journey for their guests, through the food & drinks, extending to what was incorporated on to the dining tables along with their flowers. They were intent on using re-purposed items and elements throughout the wedding, from incorporating wine barrels and other items located at the winery that were already there, to bringing together an eclectic mix of re-purposed and recycled elements from different local sources, all the while blending their taste of textural, organic, natural and unrefined style, with the elegant backdrop of Chateau St Jean in the Sonoma Valley Wine country. The treasure hunt began… various items were collected from local salvage yards, flea markets, antique shops to use as the base for the tabletop designs, as well as find a way to incorporate the flavors the couple chose as table names.  Rebecca designed and made the wedding stationary, invitations & save the date cards. This was certainly a memorable event, fun and certainly off the beaten path!

Chateau St. Jean Wedding

September 4, 2012

There is no doubt in my mind that you are going to love this little Sonoma beauty with all of your wedding loving hearts. No doubt whatsoever. First, it’s from the oh so lovely (and incredibly talented) Lisa Lefkowitz. Second, it has all the elegant style of a ballroom affair yet is all the way al fresco. Third, the soft color palette and flowers from Fleurs de France make me swoon. I could give you a fourth, fifth, six and seventh but you can see all the reasons I’m swooning over this Sonoma affair in the full gallery of images!

From the Bride…When Peter and I decided to start planning our wedding, our main priorities were to have an event that would be relaxing and enjoyable for family and friends, and to have great food and wine. Chateau St. Jean was perfect for our summer outdoor wedding. The winery is located in an area called “Valley of the Moon” in Sonoma, California.  Having lived in San Francisco for many years, I had the opportunity to visit many Napa and Sonoma wineries, and Valley of the Moon became one of my favorite areas. I loved its natural beauty – it had such a relaxing atmosphere, with a Southern European feel.

Sonoma in July can be very warm. To diffuse the heat, we greeted our guests with chilled pomegranate lemonade and Asian paper parasols.  As they were seated, they enjoyed a Spanish guitarist, who also played during the ceremony and cocktail hour.  Our ceremony took place in the shade of the trees, and Chateau St. Jean’s vineyards were the beautiful vistas for the reception dinner. Chateau St. Jean provides Japanese lanterns that are hung between trees over the reception area. We loved those lanterns – they created a magical, fairytale setting.  With good food, music, wine, and desserts: this was the best way to enjoy our special day with friends and family.

Italian Wedding

August 10, 2012

This destination wedding reception could have been in Italy, in a private garden in a number of beautiful European cities, but it took place on the beautiful patio at Tra Vigne Restaurant in St Helena. Luxurious moss green linens set the stage for lush centerpieces of white hydrangea, ivory roses, lisianthus and sweet peas, and small greenery topiaries, dotted with arrangements of lemons. The ceremony was simple and elegant, taking place at Jacuzzi winery earlier that afternoon. We anxiously await gorgeous photos still to be revealed by photographer Shannon Stellmacher, detailing the entire wedding & reception, the bride’s gardenia bouquet, the flowing glamorous and stunning dresses worn by bride and her maids of honor. We will share these wonderful images once they arrive!

What People are Saying about Fleurs de France . . .

June 11, 2012

“Fleurs de France (Jessica Switala) did the flowers for my wedding at Viansa Winery and they were absolutely amazing. Everything was perfect — the ceremony flowers, bouquets, boutonnieres, guest book table and candy buffet arrangements, and especially the centerpieces. All of the flowers were more than I could have imagined, and yet were exactly what I wanted. Definitely consider hiring Jessica if you are getting married in wine country!!”Gmcksbride

“The real gem in the entire experience of working with Fleurs de France, is the owner Jessica, who does such an amazing job of bringing your vision to life. Jessica met me in person at the venue, spoke with me over the phone on several occasions and came up with some amazing and creative ideas. Throughout the entire process, she was wonderful about brainstorming and was a true problem solver as we discussed ways to tackle some concerns that I had about a certain look that I was hoping to achieve as we created our outdoor altar/backdrop. Without a doubt, working with Jessica and Fleurs de France was a 5 star experience all the way and worth every budgeted penny.”Lizette

“Fleurs de France was a delight to work with. The owner Jessica, was able to see our vision and was extremely successful in creating our dream wedding! Jessica is one of the sweetest, most patient and kind hearted people and florist one could ever hope to work with in this very special time in a couples life.” Kelly Padidar

“Jessica at Fleurs de France did an outstanding and amazingly beautiful job for our wedding in Napa. The weather played a very tricky role as it never rains in Napa in October, and it poured all weekend. The wedding was scheduled for outside on a terrace, with flowers to go accordingly with the terrace and the outdoor setting. However, it was clear that on Sunday, the day of our wedding, that wasn’t going to be an option. The way she transformed the room we got married in, which was a last minute change, was absolutely breathtaking. I was bummed a little bit that the ceremony wasn’t outside until I saw what she did in that room and then all my concerns went away….it really was phenomenal and perfect and I have never heard so many compliments on what beautiful and amazing flowers we had. And after I saw how beautiful the room was, I wouldn’t have changed a thing, not the weather, not one thing. I would and will highly recommend Jessica and Fleurs de France to anyone who is planning any sort of special occasion, but especially a wedding. She is a master at what she does! She truly did an amazing job and we cannot thank her enough for making our special day even more beautiful!” Jennifer
