Napa Valley Wedding by Julie Mikos

I have fallen head over heels in love with the cake crafted by Perfect Endings in this oh so vibrant Napa Valley wedding. Actually, just consider my heels over my head for the entire fête! The gorgeous flowers by Fleurs de France couldn’t be lovelier or more plentiful, the stationery by Elizabeth Hubbell Studio is divine, and the Bride and Groom couldn’t look happier! Dee Merz left no detail unturned and Julie Mikos was there to capture all the lovely in a way only she can, leaving a completely stunning full gallery of images!

From Julie Mikos…Mary Ann and Garret were wed on July 14 in Napa Valley, and celebrated during an intimate reception with 20 of their closest family and friends. Mary Ann said, “Our love is special, unique and rare. And that’s the experience we wanted to share with each other and our families. We wanted an intimate experience for ourselves and our guests, and really wanted to give everyone a taste of all that Napa Valley has to offer. We engaged Dee Merz to help us design the perfect experience, and she accomplished more than we could have imagined. Dee planned our events perfectly. She translated our vision by getting to know who we are, what is important to us, what our lives are like together as a couple, how we feel about each other and the importance our children and family. We put our trust in her and the team she choose to design the events, and she out did herself.”

She said, “For the past 20 years, our family has been getting together for family dinner every week on Thursdays. Our wedding at Brix took place on Thursday, and it was a family dinner like no other!”

The couple’s vibrant flowers stole the show, and afterward, “we took the flowers to the Veterans Home in Napa,” Mary Ann said. “It was a fantastic experience for the kids to go and share our good fortune with veterans that have so selflessly served our country. It was one of the best parts of the trip!”

Kunde Vineyards Wedding by Fleurs de France

Kunde Vineyards has us dreaming in plum thanks to this pretty Sonoma wedding. It’s a layered affair with floral upon floral upon floral by the ever talented Fleurs de France and planning by A Dream Wedding. The textures, the tone on tone, it’s all working beautifully and just goes to show that sticking with a simple color palette can be jaw-dropping and about as elegant as they come. Lindsey Wells of Travis Hoehne Photography snapped many a lovely image and we have it all sitting pretty in the gallery so hop on over for an afternoon of perusing, Vineyard style.

From A Dream Wedding…Rachel & Jason envisioned their wedding color palette as tone on tone florals in a “palette of layers in deep plums, purples with grey & black undertones, staying away from any warm tones”. Eclectic and whimsical accents, randomness to the designs, fun and quirky elements, also incorporating seasonal fruit in the color scheme.

Rachel & Jason’s ceremony took place in the Dunfillan “Ruins” nestled in the rolling Sonoma Valley vineyard line hills at Kunde Estate Vineyards in Kenwood. Guests were then invited to “Boot Hill” overlooking the vineyards for cocktails, dinner reception and dancing. The night was warm and magical.

We chose a variety of mercury glass urns and containers, to offset from the cool toned linens giving a rustic yet elegant feel against the shimmer of the linens. All of the tables were named after their favorite restaurants they frequent in New York and we hand-made the fused glass pieces that were used for these displays.

Oh my goodness. I feel like I sneezed, and summer just slipped right by. Four, fabulous months filled with beachside nuptials, lavender field weddings, and rustic chic barn affairs just flew by. The light at the end of the tunnel? FALL weddings. Like this one. From California. Sent to us by the fabulous floral design team at Fleurs de France. After peeping at every last image from What Shanni Saw, I am SO ready for you lovely brides & grooms to start sending us your party’s amongst the changing leaves, with apple cider, warm pashminas, and cozy cabin fires. And boy to we have the perfect wedding to start of our Autumnal festivities. Rich proposed to Sarah on December 12, 2009 in San Francisco in front of Union Square on a rainy night, surrounded by beautiful Christmas lights and bundled up ice skaters. He presented Sarah with his grandmother’s wedding ring, fully prepared for her to take the 2 carat diamond stone from it and design the perfect engagement ring of her dreams. To his sweet surprise, Sarah, who has never received a gift she didn’t enjoy exchanging, instantly fell in love with his grandmother’s ring, and would never have dreamed of changing it in any way!

Planning the wedding was a dream come true for Sarah, as she has always been a planner at heart and loves crafting and making daily trips to Michaels and Joann’s. The couple instantly agreed upon four things they wanted for their wedding: fall weather, beautiful nature, good food, and lots of friends.

Living in the Bay Area made finding these things easy, as Wine Country was a stone’s throw away and a perfect match. After finding a winery that felt like it was in the middle of a forest, it was easy for Sarah to pick her colors and work around the beautiful backdrop that is Buena Vista Winery (California’s oldest winery). With shades of purple and with fall as the time of year, Sarah built the wedding around a theme of leaves.

Since Rich and Sarah are both sweets lovers (and excellent cooks) it was important to Sarah that the favors were handmade candies (caramels by Sarah and toffee by Rich) and that the dessert table offered not only a variety of cupcakes (great mini-cupcakes from Moonbaby Cakes!) but candies in shades of purple as well. Every cake plate and decoration used on the dessert table was purchased by Sarah in the year long search for glass plates on Ebay. Etsy was another favorite website of Sarah’s, as she purchased the cake topper, fabric leaves, pompoms and mother gifts (handmade quilts with pictures of the bride and groom as children) from the site.

All of the “save the dates”, invitations and place cards were designed and made by Sarah using tools purchased from local craft stores and put together with help from her Mom and Sister during weekend long craft-fests.

Shanni and Blaine Weilert from What Shanni Saw captured the day beautifully on film and took great pictures of the many magic moments it entailed – including capturing the gorgeous Oak trees that flanked the outdoor wedding altar and that perfectly changed from green to vivid colors of orange, red, and yellow the day before Sarah’s wedding.

Jessica from Fleurs de France helped Sarah achieve her rustic floral vision and worked with Sarah to choose beautiful flowers within her budget. It was easy for Sarah to trust that Jessica would choose just the right flowers to fulfill her vision of the day. Not only did she do just that, but she even surprised Sarah by having two beautiful tall birch containers with fall leaves placed by the honeymoon table. The flowers were a great surprise for Sarah and one of the few she actually got to have that day, since she planned everything down to the last detail.

Overall, an important lesson to be learned from the day was to not over think/analyze things, which Sarah often has the habit of doing and go with your gut. Choose great, highly recommended vendors and learn to trust. Enjoy your day and don’t worry about the things that you can’t control and you will find that everything turns out the way it should in the end. Remember why you are there: to marry the one you love!

Solage Calistoga Wedding by Fleurs de France

I have been wanting to visit Solage Calistoga since the moment I first laid my eyes on all of its breathtaking beauty right here on Style Me Pretty… And I may or may not have spent a few hundred hours perusing their website in the meantime. Needless to say, when I saw that this lovely wedding was held at the Napa Valley resort, I knew it would be spectacular. And, oh my, is it ever. One look at those incredible blooms crafted by Fleurs de France and I was a goner. And the pretty doesn’t stop there. Everything, and I mean everything, about this fête is amazing. The location, the color palette, the beautiful couple… Beyond. I’ll be spending the next few hours in the gallery gazing at all of the stunning images by Halberg Photographers. From Fleurs de France… Peter and Kara met in college at the University of California, Berkeley. They dated briefly in college before parting ways in 1999 as Peter left Cal to study abroad in France for a semester. In 2006, several years after both had graduated from Cal and two years after Kara had finished law school and passed the Bar, Peter and Kara bumped into each other at a Cal football game.

They caught up and figured out that they were both single and began a friendship that eventually turned into a relationship. Three years later, on a Cal football game day in 2009, Peter planned a large group tailgating trip from San Francisco over to Berkeley, including his two younger brothers and Kara’s brother and sister. It was not out of the ordinary for friends and family to go to the Cal games in a big group, so Kara didn’t suspect a thing. Once they arrived in Berkeley, Peter and Kara went for a walk on campus, and below the Campanile, Peter got down on one knee and asked Kara to marry him. It was so fitting that the proposal took place at Cal, where their romance began! Kara immediately wanted to run back to their siblings and friends to share the good news. Peter, however, already had friends and family waiting with champagne in the middle of campus, including Kara’s parents and one of her best friends whom Peter had convinced to fly up from Los Angeles just to celebrate the engagement. Less than a year later, on August 21, 2010, Peter and Kara got married at Solage.

Sonoma Valley Wedding from Fleurs de France

In my humble opinion, you definitely can not go wrong with a summer vineyard wedding in California. It’s the recipe for perfection. And when you add Fleurs de France‘s fabulous flora to the mix, well then, the whole affair is promised to reach beyond perfect. Greg and Elise met during their senior year of college at Santa Clara University. Despite attending a small college and sharing many friends, their paths had never crossed. While getting to know each other over drinks at the local college bar, they discovered their shared passions for wine and the San Francisco Giants.

After many trips to his family home in Sonoma, Greg surprised Elise with a proposal in the middle of the vineyards. While she was taking pictures of the beautiful surroundings, Greg dropped to one knee and waited for her to turn around… he surprised her with a very romantic proposal and they began planning a wine country wedding right away.

The wedding day was a perfect celebration of family and friends… and was made all the more special because the Giants won the World Series in the days leading up to the wedding!

California Wine Country Weddings Color Inspiration from Fleurs de France

One of the things we hear the most from our brides-to-be is just how stinkin’ difficult it can be to pick your colors. There are so many things to consider when concerning the color palette of their big day. What sort of ambiance you want to portray? What colors will work well with your surroundings? What time of year are you marrying? Does orange really work with your maid of honor’s skin tone? It can easily become the topic you least want to discuss. But what are we here for, if not to give you inspiration for your big day? Fleurs de France sent over three amazing wedding with three pretty different color inspirations. And first up to bat, we’ve got a Sonoma County wedding, captured by Deborah Laver Photography, featuring a spectrum of soft yellow. Click here for more of this one!

So what can we take from this first fête? Obviously, the couple choose yellow for their big day. The color closely associated with sunshine, warmth, and happiness. But to avoid the yellow being overwhelming, which is a definite threat, they chose to incorporate the color in the florals alone. Almost all other colors of the affair are neutral, allowing the yellow to take center stage, along with the couple, of course. The black attire of the bridal party, the white bridal gown and linens, and the green foliage backdrop all allowed a minimal amount of the vibrant hue to make a big impact.

With associations like passion, sophistication, and wisdom, a purple wedding is bound to be good. This wedding differs from the first wedding from Fleurs de France, in the fact that purple is everywhere. It’s on the ‘maids dresses, on the tablescapes, in the florals. It could be overwhelming, if there were no accent colors. My absolute favorite thing about this Napa Wedding is the contrasting Mother’s dress. She picked a color that worked so well with the purple and pink palette, yet was completely different. The wedding was outdoors, which means there was a plethora of green, brown, wood, stone. Each of these colors and textures works with the purple in a different, great way – balancing the vibrancy from the other side of the color wheel.

Last on our list we have another Sonoma wedding photographed by Deborah Laver Photography. You can see the whole beautiful affair in the gallery.

This one is very different. While the amazing florals from this wedding had a rosy tint, the rest of the wedding was very neutral. There are lots of whites, the color of purity, cleanliness, and peace. This is a great option to go with if your wedding will take place outdoors, where nature provides the most beautiful color palette. The white details of this wedding serve as a canvas featuring the stunning couple and the beautiful Sonoma Wine Country. Very minimal color was used, but the effect is breathtaking.

All three of these weddings could have had completely different feels if the palettes had changed. All had very similar backdrops – wine country, lots of greens, natural land – but each had a different feel because of the colors chosen. One thing I’ve picked up from studying gorgeous weddings on a daily basis, is that a little color goes a long way. You can see this in all three of these weddings. The yellow florals in the first wedding made the entire affair feel happy. The deep purples in the second wedding were juxtaposed perfectly with the natural world around for a moody, luxe feel. The neutral whites of the final wedding let the surroundings set the mood – clean and fresh.
